§ 13. Work on streets.

  • Be it further enacted, that every male resident of said town between the ages of eighteen and forty-five years shall be liable, and may be required to work on the streets and alleys of said town not exceeding ten days in any one year, and on failure or refusal to perform such work when required, may be punished in such manner within the restrictions of this act as the town council may determine; Provided, that at least two days notice shall be given of the time when such work shall be required to be performed. And, provided further, that all such persons be exempt from such work on payment of such street tax as the town council may impose, not exceeding five dollars in any one year.
