§ 5. Election.

  • Be it further enacted, that an election for a mayor and five councilmen of said town shall be held on the first Monday in July, 1901, and every two years thereafter, at and between the hours prescribed by law for State elections, but should an election not take place at the time designated, the corporation for that cause, shall not be dissolved, but the mayor and councilmen shall remain in office until their successors are elected and qualified, and shall proceed to appoint some other day, as near as may be, not exceeding thirty days, on which such election shall be held.
